Cleaning instructions for Ingenico Payment Terminals and Mobile Card Readers

Good hygiene and cleanliness are now more important than ever in companies – to protect both employees and customers. Your terminals and mobile card readers serve as a frequent contact point between your customers and your employees. For the safety of you and your customers, we would like to remind you how to regularly clean your payment acceptance devices.

Cleaning of your payment terminals and mobile card readers:

Guidelines for the proper cleaning of Ingenico payment solutions are as follows:

  • Ingenico recommends using a soft cloth very lightly saturated with soapy water to clean the outside of the devices.

  • It is recommended to use cloth pre-saturated for better control of the quantity of liquid applied on the device. An excessive application of liquid may potentially generate some functional problems.

  • A hydro-alcoholic solution can only be used when on a lightly pre-saturated cloth.

  • Some hydro-alcoholic solutions may include isopropyl alcohol which can be used on every part of the device as long as the concentration of isopropyl alcohol is below 20%.

Do nots:

  • Do not clean the electrical connections.
  • Do not spray, pour or coat any liquid, disinfectant or cleaners directly on the payment terminal or mobile card reader.
  • Do not use solvents, detergents or abrasive products as they may damage the plastic or electrical contacts.
  • Do not use alcohol-based cleaning solutions (e.g. isopropyl solution 70%) on the plastic display lenses.
  • Avoid excessive wiping, which might cause damage to the device.
  • Do not get moisture into any openings nor use aerosol sprays.
  • Avoid exposing the terminal to direct sunlight.
  • Do not put anything into the slot of the smart card reader.

Please note: While cleaning using the instructions above has no impact on the performances or functions of our solutions, very frequent cleaning may modify the cosmetic aspect of some plastics used in our devices; such cosmetic wear is not covered by the standard Ingenico Group warranty conditions.
